Economy program
Schedule for the period of 2002-2006 of the local government of Pusztamagyaród
1. Industrial park and power plant establishment
Draft project:
The industrial park focuses on especially enterprises occupied in wood-
processing. Local conditions, wide range of basic materials, traditions
and labour force give grounds for establishing a new industrial park. There
is quite a good base for the cooperation between the enterprises. Running
the park with the cooperation of the specialized small-and medium-sized
enterprises would stimulate high-quality and high-processed production.
Inviting new firms running the same business can be advantageous for recycling
industry. The new biomass (primarily wood)-based power station will be
able to recycle all the waste wood materials of the enterprises. With the
heat energy we will supply the enterpises and the local inhabitants, as
well. A new project is badly needed to stop migration, to create new jobs,
to establish new industries, while the new district heating system stimulates
tourism.
Estimated total expenses: 900,000,000 HUF
Financial sources:
First phase: PHARE CBC (Hungary- Austria Small Project Fund)
90% EU-assistance
10% own resources (local government, enterprises)
Second phase: PHARE-ORPHEUS
50% EU-assistance
40% governmental assistance
10% own resources (local government, enterprises)
Expected date of fulfilment: 2004-2006
2. Rented-flat building plan
Draft project:
Target is ten new flats to be built by the local government. The government
now owns only one flat. The new flats will contribute to keep the intellectuals
in the settlement and to invite new experts here that is the industrial
developments are aimed at. The flats are to be built on a building site
owned by the local government.
Estimated total expenses: 165,000,000 HUF
Financial sources: Hungarian rented-flat program
Expected date of fulfilment: 2004
3. Sanitary centre establishment
Draft project:
The present sanitary centre was built in the middle of the 1960's. Now
it is not in a good condition so reconstruction is badly needed. Due to
its small size enlargement should be carried out. After the reconstruction
the building and the equipment will meet all the requirements regulated
by the law and the EU. According to the plans the building will be enlarged
with a small room suitable for the reception of patients and the plumbing
and heating system will be modernised, as well.
Estimated total expenses: 16,935,000 HUF
Financial sources: Regional Development Council of Zala County (under invitation-to-tender
procedure)
West- Transdanubian Council of Regional Development
Expected date of fulfilment: 2003
4. Social care centre
Draft project:
We put big emphasis on taking care of the aging population; 172 people
from the 699 are elder than 60, which is 24% of the total population. There
are a lot of widows and widowers, disabled people, who need not only boarding
but cultural programs and moving in society, as well. By modernising the
building, which is free from Monday to Friday, we are able to fulfil all
the necessary social requirements. Our social program and the new care
centre with skilled social workers and a manager will be suitable to ensure
boarding, regular medical check once a week and cultural programs for 30
people. For launching our program we need all the necessary equipment,
furniture in the centre beyond modernising it.
Estimated total expenses: 35,000,000 HUF
Financial sources: Ministry of Health
Expected date of fulfilment: 2003-2004
5. New gymnasium plan
Draft project:
The aim of the plan is enlarging the primary school with a new gymnasium.
In case of bad weather only a small room is suitable for PE lessons now.
The new gym will be suitable not only for teaching but can give place for
various sport programs for the local residents as well as people from the
neighbour villages.
Estimated total expenses: 118,000,000 HUF.
Financial sources: tender under the supervision of the Ministry of Children,
Youth and Sports, Regional Development Council of Zala County (own resources
replaced by credit)
Expected date of fulfilment: 2004
6. Public House Plan
Draft project:
The former culture house, built in the 1950's, with the cinema functioned
as a centre of entertainment in the village. Being in so critical condition
it was destroyed in 2000 giving place to the new school. The new public
house would serve as a culture house, as well. According to our plans the
former Jewish commercial house standing on the corner of Fő street, which
is now regarded as a monument, will be reconstructed on the one hand to
ensure entertainment facilities for the youth and elder generations, on
the other hand to give place to some civil organizations.
Expected date of fulfilment: 2005
7. Publication of local history monograph
Draft project:
Szakony Miklós, the freeman of our village has done some research on the
local history for decades. We would like to publish a book from the data
he collected. The book will give a description of the 900-year-history
of our village.
Expected date of fulfilment: 2005
8. Watershed development at the boundary of Pusztamagyaród
At the boundary of Pusztamagyaród we can find some natural magic that the
local people call watershed. Here are the springs of Alsó-Válicka and Felső-
Válicka brooks. The catchment area of river Zala is toward north, toward
south there is the catchment area of river Mura. We are to exploit all
the advantages of the nature to make our village as a centre of local tourism
and join to the Hungarian network by showing the watershed and our local
values.
Expected date of fulfilment: 2005
9. Sewerage system establishment
10. Reconstruction and enlargement of nursery school
Draft project:
The nursery school operates in a 150-year-old mansion. The expert's study
states for lack of insulation the walls are always humid due to soil humidity.
Owing to the plaster the water cannot leave outside only inside the building.
As a consequence all the walls are humid causing unhealthy, stuffy air.
The floor was made of wood, it is in critical condition as well as the
roof. There is an urgent need for functional and structural reconstruction.
Estimated total expenses: 118,000,000 HUF
Expected date of fulfilment: 2004
11. Recycling system establishment(Zalabér)
